3 Things You May Have Missed In Facebook Insights
Remember when Facebook Insights looked like this?
It told me some things, but not everything I wanted to know.
Facebook made a major overhaul to their page insights a few months ago and it’s pretty killer…of course if you can figure out how to navigate your way through it. There’s a ton of data to look at; however, I found through much clicking some awesome insights that I would have skipped over.
3 Things You May Have Missed In Facebook Insights
1. Where Your Page Likes Came From
When was the last time you weren’t logged into your Facebook account? Or when was the last time you didn’t have Facebook on your phone? I think it’s even safe to bet that you can’t remember when you didn’t even have a Facebook.
With over 1 billion users, the number of active users (728 million daily active users) up by 25% since September 2013, and the number of mobile with a growth rate of 45%, it’s important to know as a brand where the heck these fans are coming from. Do you need to optimize your content for more mobile users? Or are likes coming from similar page suggestions? This section will show you where your page likes are coming from and how you can figure out your strategy to cater to them.
The timeframe on this can be chosen at the top of the page and you can pick from 1 week, 1 month, or 1 quarter.
2. Times When Your Fans are On
No need to wonder when most of your fans are on and trying to pinpoint a time to post to make sure they see it…
With the Facebook Insights, you can now see under posts the times when your fans are on. Here’s exactly where you can figure out when they best time to post when your fans are most active on Facebook. You can look at the breakdown of days and what time in those days the number of your fans are on. If you don’t click on a specific day, you’ll be shown the average of the times by week.
3. Types of Posts
While you’re wondering when to post your your Facebook posts, you’re probably also wondering what types of posts are the most effective for you. Do your fans like image post? What about just text? Or how does a post with just a link do?
The answers are here! Simply click “Post Types” to the right of “When Your Fans Are Online” and then you can see the average reach of photo, status, and link posts. You then can see the Average Engagement each of the posts get as well between likes and comments.
There is a tour that Facebook provides where you can go through the new insights; however, as a person who doesn’t have time to sit through that, I’ll stick to my explorative clicking (which could take up more time) and report on my discoveries here. :)
