So far for the game between Real-Time Marketing and Growth Hacking, it seems that Growth Hacking is taking the lead. Don’t worry you still can vote between the two on our Facebook page.
The polls for Native Advertising and Big Data will open today at 4pm, so make sure you get your votes in for them to see who will go into the finals on Monday to determine the buzz word of 2013.
Here’s a simple breakdown of the two today:
1. Big Data
Can I even attempt to compress “Big Data” into one short paragraph? My attempts may be futile, but generally Big Data can’t in fact be shortened into five or so sentences. Big Data encompasses just about all activities from productivity, growth and innovation. It shows the varying waves of challenges and opportunity. Big Data helps businesses make better decisions on pinpointing the ones that make the best outcome.
VS.
2. Native Advertising
This term of “native” has been springing up quite a bit lately with digital natives and with the buzz word mentioned about. Native is defined in the dictionary in several ways, but in this aspect it’s mainly associated with “belonging to or associated with one by birth.” Digital Natives are a specific demographic that have been immersed in digital technology/media sorts since they were born and they don’t know any different. Native Advertising follows the same suit; however, understanding that the user is so use to an advertisement. Rather than trying to push the product in an individual’s face. The advertisement attempts to bring more content and provide something useful to the individual in return. It’s sponsored and promoted content that follows any paid advertising foundation; yet, it is increasingly more impressionable to the user. The native ad itself is giving the user the “experience” in the ad in some type of page or app form. Some fantastic examples of some native advertising can be found from ShareThrough (A Native Advertising Platform) and their Native Advertising Leaderboard. Check it out!
