RSS (Rich Site Summary)

RSS (or Rich Site Summary) is an XML-based method used to automatically deliver content to a user on a website.

It delivers information to a feed, which can be shown on a third-party website. It will update automatically as new content is published on the site it subscribes to. The major benefit of this is that the feed will update without having to refresh an entire web page. This provides you with real time information when you need it. RSS uses web syndication to take data from one website and move it to the website the RSS feed is on, which is why it is sometimes referred to as Really Simply Syndication.

Why is RSS still important?

Amongst its many deliverable options, people often use RSS to share blogs, news, audio, and video. This can help marketers stay up to date on relevant news in their industry. It can also help them spread their content on the web. To add a website subscription to the RSS feed, add the URL of the website’s feed to the list of feeds your RSS feed checks. Someone can also click the website’s “feed” icon. If no feed icon is available there are several feed generators that will generate this for a user.
