Tone

Tone is the attitude of an author’s writing. It should be appropriate for the target audience. Unlike Voice, which cannot be easily changed, tone is an aspect of writing that can, and should, be manipulated as needed.

Why does TrackMaven think that Tone is important:

Having the ability to change the tone of writing is important when creating content. Not everything written will be appropriate in all situations. If somebody is writing content in the form of a blog post, he/she might want to take a more casual approach. However, someone might want to be more formal if they are writing something such as a whitepaper.

In a Sentence

Kara used a casual tone for the blog post she wrote, but changed to a formal tone for her whitepaper.
