SERP

After a web user enters a query into the search engine, the search engine executes it search algorithm and returns the SERP (Search Engine Results Page) to the user. The SERP will return relevant web pages in relation to the keywords entered in the query, and based on the search algorithm used, the web pages will be listed with the most relevant at the top and descend with decreasing relevancy. The display of the SERP usually contains Meta descriptions of each web page listed, which show where the searched keywords appear on that page. Listings can all be from different websites, or there can be several listings from the same site, depending on how much relevant material that site offers.

Why does TrackMaven think that SERP is important?

Your position on a SERP is heavily influenced by your SEO strategy, and you should be constantly looking for opportunities to secure a higher ranking. A website’s positioning on a SERP usually has a big impact on the amount of traffic that site sees. Consumers today are accustomed to getting the results they want as fast as they can, so a company that has its website as the first result on a SERP has a much higher chance of getting visitors than sites further down the page.
