5 Things You Didn’t Know About Social at Salesforce
Did you know that it’s only a team of 3 managing Salesforce’s corporate social media channels? With such a lean team, strategy is essential to maintain the brand’s social presence. Some of the team’s top social marketing tips include:
- posting a mix of light/fun and meatier content;
- choosing your channels wisely (Linkedin drives the most traffic for the Salesforce team)
- hosting Twitter chats to engage new audiences
- monitoring brand mentions
- and empowering a Social Ambassador Program.
The social media team at Salesforce, for instance, found that when people engage with more overtly “shareable” content like a fun company culture piece, it makes it more likely that a follow up post that is more professional (e.g. an e-book), will reach and engage new prospects.

Why Wendy’s Went Upscale on Intagram
In the past month, fast food chain Wendy’s launched a brand new Instagram strategy featuring high-quality images and partnerships with Instagram influencers like photographer Nathan Michael. “Our testing has shown Instagram, when we have the right creative, improves people’s perceptions of the brand,” Wendy’s VP of Digital Brandon Rhoten reported to Digiday.
The move marks an attempt to differentiate the brand from top competitors like McDonald’s, Burger King, and Shake Shack, each of which have Instagram audiences more than twice the size of Wendy’s.
“The move marks an evolution of Wendy’s social strategy, which is now focused on adding value to users of each individual platform that it dabbles in,” Digiday notes. Gee, that sounds like a channel-specific content strategy — which we advise for all of our customers! More on that here.
