Fact: Corgis can even make tumbling over look cute…
…which is why we’re excited to talk about Tumblr!
Tumblr is a useful (and claimed essential) platform for many marketers, with features and benefits unique from any other channel.
Described as a mix of WordPress, Facebook, and Pinterest, Tumblr is a great place for marketers to visually showcase and share their brand story.
Quick Sprout reports that 78% of all Tumblr posts are photos or other images, and that photo posts are the most popular to reblog on Tumblr.
Here are a few more Tumblr tips and fun facts:
- Visuals: Tumblr supports gifs (like the one above!) and just recently, Vine videos!
- Scheduled Posts: Schedule content ahead of time to post at the date and time you like.
- Sharing Across Channels: Tumblr makes it easy to send posts to Facebook and Twitter.
- Tags: Including tags based on content topics make posts easier to search for and discover.
- Longevity: On average, 29% of reblogs happen after 30 days, meaning longer content lifetime in comparison to other social channels such as Facebook.
- Demographic: Nearly half (46%) of Tumblr users are between the ages of 16-24, making it ideal for brands catering to the 18-34 year old demographic.
With the holidays approaching, retail brands in particular should be aiming to maximize the amount of revenue referred from social media — and according to Adobe’s Q4 2013 Social Intelligence Report, Tumblr is one of the top platforms to bet on.
By the end of 2013, revenue referred from Tumblr to retail sites jumped 340% year-over-year, and 38% quarter-over-quarter! That increase makes a visit from Tumblr more valuable than a visit from Twitter or Pinterest, and second only to a visit from Facebook.
